East Africa Pharma Expo 2025 Showcases Regional Manufacturing Growth and Global Partnerships

Nairobi, Kenya — The 8th East Africa Pharma Expo & East Africa Lab Expo 2025, held on September 16–17, 2025 at the Kenyatta International Convention Centre (KICC), Nairobi, successfully convened pharmaceutical manufacturers, technology providers, regulators, and healthcare leaders from across East Africa and the international community.

The exhibition brought together 100+ companies from over 10 countries, showcasing a complete spectrum of solutions for the pharmaceutical and life sciences sector. Exhibits spanned pharmaceutical raw materials & APIs, formulation and contract manufacturing, packaging materials & machinery, manufacturing machinery, analytical and laboratory technologies, cleanroom & HVAC systems, water treatment and utilities, automation and digitalization, and project consultancy and turnkey solutions. The platform facilitated B2B meetings and networking, strengthening Kenya’s position as a growing hub for pharmaceutical manufacturing in the region.

The Inauguration Ceremony was graced by prominent dignitaries and industry leaders, including Dr. John Munyu, Chairman of the Pharmacy and Poisons Board (PPB); Dr. Nancy M. Njeru, DHPT – Ministry of Health; Dr. Wairimu Mbogo, President, Pharmaceutical Society of Kenya (PSK); Mr. Vimal Patel, Chairman, Federation of Kenya Pharmaceutical Manufacturers (FKPM); Ms. Stella Kiptanui, Executive Director, Kenya Association of Pharmaceutical Industry (KAPI); and Mr. Chitechi Asman, President, Kenya Pharmaceutical Association (KPA), alongside senior officials from the Ministry of Health, Kenya and representatives from the Uganda Pharmaceutical Manufacturers Association (UPMA).

The expo was held under the patronage of the Pharmacy and Poisons Board (PPB) and supported by leading associations including the Federation of Kenya Pharmaceutical Manufacturers (FKPM), Pharmaceutical Society of Kenya (PSK), Kenya Association of Pharmaceutical Industry (KAPI), Kenya Pharmaceutical Association (KPA), and the Uganda Pharmaceutical Manufacturers Association (UPMA).

A special highlight was the participation of a delegation of senior QA/QC officers from the Tanzania Medicines & Medical Devices Authority (TMDA), underscoring the growing cross-border collaboration and harmonization of regulatory practices across East Africa.

Running parallel to the exhibition, the Pharma Conference addressed the theme: “Anchorage of Local Pharmaceutical Industry to AI and Regulatory Compliance in Achieving Enhanced National Universal Health.” Sessions featured international faculty and regional experts, who explored the role of AI in pharma and regulatory affairs, track-and-trace systems, compliance best practices, and reflections on the challenges and opportunities shaping East Africa’s pharmaceutical industry.

A key highlight of the conference was the keynote address by Mr. Ranjit Barshikar, CEO of QbD International and UN MPP Geneva Advisor, who emphasized embedding Quality by Design (QbD) across manufacturing processes. He highlighted how AI, data integrity, and harmonized inspection frameworks can mitigate risks and improve competitiveness. His session drew strong participation from QA/QC professionals, regulators, and industry leaders, and was recognized as a cornerstone in aligning East Africa’s industry with international quality standards.

With strong participation from stakeholders across Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Ethiopia, Rwanda, and Burundi, the two-day Expo reaffirmed its position as East Africa’s premier B2B platform for pharmaceutical manufacturing and supply chain solutions.
