The DGCA has confirmed the death of Deputy CM Ajit Pawar in a plane crash in Baramati. The Deputy CM was heading for chairing meetings in his hometown Baramati ahead of the Zilla Parishad polls. The ground staff stated that the plane skidd off the runway and crashed. There were total 6 people in the plane including the two pilot and security personnels along with the Deputy CM.
PM Modi in a tweet stated, “Shri Ajit Pawar Ji was a leader of the people, having a strong grassroots level connect. He was widely respected as a hardworking personality at the forefront of serving the people of Maharashtra. His understanding of administrative matters and passion for empowering the poor and downtrodden were also noteworthy. His untimely demise is very shocking and saddening.
