“Our focus is to position Goa as a world-class, year-round destination through our vision of Goa Beyond Beaches and Regenerative Tourism”

TFT: What are the key priorities for Goa Tourism over the next five years?

Shri R.A.K: Our focus is to position Goa as a world-class, year-round destination through our vision of Goa Beyond Beaches and Regenerative Tourism. We are expanding experiences in wellness, heritage, adventure, MICE, weddings, cruise and hinterland tourism while improving connectivity, infrastructure and digital services. Our goal is simple: create high-value tourism that benefits communities, protects our environment and strengthens Goa’s economy.

TFT: How is the government encouraging local communities to benefit from tourism?

Shri R.A.K: Communities are at the centre of our tourism model. We are empowering local entrepreneurs, artisans, self-help groups and homestay owners through training, financial support and market access. When tourism creates opportunities at the grassroots, it strengthens livelihoods while preserving Goa’s culture, heritage and traditions.

TFT: How will improved connectivity and infrastructure benefit Goa’s tourism industry?

Shri R.A.K: Goa already has good infrastructure and connectivity, and better connectivity opens Goa to new domestic and international markets while supporting MICE, weddings, sports, wellness and long-stay tourism. It also encourages visitors to explore our hinterland and lesser-known destinations, increasing visitor spending, extending stays and creating economic opportunities across the state.

TFT: Which tourism segments will receive special focus in the coming years?

Shri R.A.K: Our strategy is diversification, not dependence on one segment. We are strengthening wellness, heritage, MICE, adventure and nature-based tourism under the umbrella of Goa Beyond Beaches. Every initiative is guided by regenerative tourism, ensuring growth that benefits both visitors and local communities while protecting Goa’s natural and cultural heritage.
