Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma inaugurated a newly constructed Convention Centre at Chinnamara, Jorhat, on 2nd April, 2025. The project was completed at a cost of Rs. 19.98 crore.
The newly inaugurated centre spans an area of 3,118 square meters and is equipped with state-of-the-art amenities to comfortably accommodate up to 120 guests. These facilities include an executive lounge, a dedicated media conference hall, and well-appointed suite cabins.
During the inauguration ceremony, Chief Minister Sarma participated in a symbolic act of environmental responsibility by planting a sapling of the Neem tree on the campus, signifying the importance of ecological balance alongside infrastructure development.
A Venue for Administrative and Community Events:
The newly established Convention Centre will serve as a versatile venue for hosting important events organized by the district administration, as well as community gatherings. It is expected to enhance public outreach and support administrative activities in the region. The development of this facility is part of the government’s broader efforts to strengthen infrastructure and improve services for the people of Jorhat.
Fostering Government-Citizen Cooperation and Dialogue:
The establishment of the Convention Centre is expected to foster closer cooperation between the government and the citizens of Jorhat, providing a dedicated space for the exchange of views and interaction on a wide range of important issues. This project is an integral part of the broader framework aimed at developing public infrastructure and promoting community welfare across Assam.
