Madhya Pradesh Government Considers Expanding Trade Fairs Following Success in Gwalior and Ujjain

Following the successful organization of trade fairs in Gwalior and Ujjain, the Madhya Pradesh state government is actively exploring the possibility of hosting more such “Vyapar Melas” (trade fairs) in regions across the state that demonstrate significant potential for such events.

This initiative arose during a recent review of the Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSME) sector, which was chaired by Chief Minister Mohan Yadav.

Comprehensive Plan Under Development for Potential Trade Fair Locations:

To further advance this idea, the state government intends to conduct a thorough study of all areas within Madhya Pradesh that possess the necessary scope and infrastructure to successfully host trade fairs. Based on this assessment, a comprehensive plan will be formulated to strategically organize these events. Additionally, a startup-focused event is already scheduled to take place in Bhopal during the month of September.

Gwalior Trade Fair’s Significant Business Highlights Potential:

During the review, the significant economic impact of previous trade fairs was discussed. Notably, the trade fair held earlier this year in Gwalior generated a substantial business volume of Rs 3,327 crore, highlighting the considerable potential of such events to stimulate economic activity.

Aiming to Improve Entrepreneurship Ranking and Boost Employment:

Currently ranked 7th in entrepreneurship among Indian states, the Madhya Pradesh government is committed to implementing all necessary efforts to improve its ranking. Chief Minister Yadav emphasized the crucial role of MSMEs as a vital medium for providing both direct employment opportunities and avenues for self-employment, with the goal of ensuring at least one person per family has access to such opportunities.

The state government also intends to expand MSME activities in every district of Madhya Pradesh, tailoring the expansion to the specific available capacity and resources within each region.

Initiatives to Support Local Production and Agriculture

Chief Minister Yadav also announced plans to establish facilities for preserving the freshness of vegetables, with the initial implementation starting in Ratlam. Furthermore, he emphasized the need to accelerate the growth of power looms and other traditional production activities across the state.
