Pune Expo 2024 Inaugurated by MCCIA: A Hub for Innovation, Safety, and Sustainability

The highly anticipated Pune Expo 2024, organized by the Mahratta Chamber of Commerce, Industries, and Agriculture (MCCIA) was inaugurated on Friday, December 13, at the Auto Cluster Exhibition Centre in Chinchwad. This three-day event brings together industry leaders, policymakers, and stakeholders to delve into advancements in manufacturing, safety protocols, and sustainability practices.

The session on AI and IoT in Manufacturing explored the transformative role of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and the Internet of Things (IoT) in optimizing manufacturing efficiency. Industry experts, including Abhijit Deogirikar (CopperCloud Technologies) and Sujata Tilak (Ascent Intellimation), presented case studies on IoT applications, while Himanshu Jadhav (Jendamark India) discussed AI’s impact on predictive maintenance and quality assurance.

The inaugural ceremony was graced by the presence of Shekhar Singh, Commissioner of Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC), and Rajendra Singh, Managing Director of Maharashtra State Industrial Development Corporation (MSIDC). Other key figures included Deepak Karandikar, Past President of MCCIA, Sanjay Giri, Joint Director of Industrial Safety and Health, Rajendra Nimbalkar, Managing Director of Maharashtra State Small Industries Development Corporation, and George Verghese, Chief Human Resources Officer at Kirloskar Group.

In his opening address, Prashant Girbane, Director General of MCCIA, emphasized Pune’s leadership in engineering exports and highlighted the Expo’s role as a vital platform for fostering industrial collaboration. With over 150 exhibitors, the event showcases the latest innovations in the manufacturing sector.

Transformative Discussions on AI and IoT in Manufacturing

One of the key sessions, “AI and IoT in Manufacturing,” explored the transformative role of Artificial Intelligence and the Internet of Things in improving manufacturing efficiency. Industry experts such as Abhijit Deogirikar of CopperCloud Technologies and Sujata Tilak of Ascent Intellimation shared real-world case studies on IoT applications. A major focus of the event was industrial safety, addressing the critical issue of workplace hazards. Speakers Sanjay Giri and Milind Ogale from MIDC spoke about fire prevention and compliance measures, while Nitin Joshi from Vighnaharta Technologies demonstrated cutting-edge technological solutions for workplace safety.

The “MCCIA Sustainability Dialogue 2024” session highlighted green practices and sustainable business initiatives. Discussions included decarbonization and sustainable procurement strategies, with a panel featuring Mayura Bhusari of Kirloskar Group, who underscored sustainability as an essential business imperative.
