India’s Renewable Energy and Storage Outlook
India’s clean energy expansion is creating opportunities across renewable power generation, manufacturing, transmission infrastructure and energy storage. The addition of 55.29 GW of non-fossil power capacity in FY 2025–26, including 44.61 GW of solar capacity, reflects the growing scale of deployment. At the same time, initiatives such as the Approved List of Models and Manufacturers (ALMM) are supporting the focus on domestic manufacturing and supply-chain development.
India’s energy storage market is gaining momentum as the country scales up renewable energy integration. According to the Ministry of Power, the Central Electricity Authority’s National Electricity Plan projects a battery energy storage requirement of 208 GWh by 2030, with a further 35.8 GWh of BESS capacity reported under construction. These developments highlight the growing importance of battery technologies, storage systems and grid-integration solutions in India’s clean energy transition. (https://www.pib.gov.in/)
Large-scale solar developments, including Bhadla in Rajasthan, Pavagada in Karnataka and Rewa in Madhya Pradesh, demonstrate the scale of India’s utility-level renewable energy projects. Alongside continued wind energy development and investments in transmission infrastructure, government initiatives supporting solar parks, domestic manufacturing and battery storage are opening opportunities across the wider clean energy supply chain.
Against this backdrop, REI Expo 2026, The Battery Show India 2026 and Energy Storage Summit India will provide a common platform for businesses and decision-makers to engage with the technologies, partnerships and investment opportunities shaping India’s energy transition. The combined events will support industry dialogue and business connections across renewable energy generation, advanced batteries, energy storage and grid infrastructure as India advances towards its long-term clean energy ambitions.
