TFT: What inspired the launch of the Smart Home Expo, and how has the vision evolved over the years?

SS: The smart home industry has evolved significantly over the past decade, driven by the growth of India’s real estate sector and increasing purchasing power. Recognizing the need for a dedicated platform, we decided to launch the Smart Home Expo to exclusively showcase smart home technology, home automation, lighting, AV solutions, and consumer electronics. At the time, there was no dedicated B2B trade show for this sector until we introduced Smart Home Expo in Mumbai in 2019.

TFT: What impact have you seen on the market since the event’s inception?

SS: The impact we have witnessed has been tremendous. When we started in 2019, only 20 companies exhibited at the event. Today, in its 6th edition, the Smart Home Expo has grown into a major industry event, featuring over 450 Indian and international brands and attracting more than 15,000 attendees. The smart home concept is now widely recognized within the design and construction community. To further educate and share the latest developments in the industry, we also launched Smart Home World, a dedicated magazine.

TFT: We can see the use of AI in every sector, how the expo will address the growing need of AI and IoT in home automation?

SS: The Smart Home Expo is at the forefront of showcasing the latest advancements in AI and IoT within the home automation industry. This year, we have dedicated segments focused on AI-driven smart home solutions, IoT-enabled devices, and intelligent automation systems. Attendees will experience live demonstrations of AI-powered security systems, voice-controlled automation, energy-efficient smart appliances, and predictive home management solutions.

Additionally, expert-led panel discussions and workshops will explore the role of AI in enhancing user experience, improving energy efficiency, and ensuring seamless integration across smart home ecosystems. By bringing together leading brands, innovators, and industry experts, the expo aims to address the growing demand for AI and IoT in home automation and drive the future of smart living.

TFT: Do you see Indian consumers becoming more receptive to home automation compared to global trends?

SS: Thanks to our young and urban population, which is well aware of the latest smart home innovations and advancements, the demand for secure, energy-efficient living solutions is growing rapidly. Additionally, the Indian government’s Digital India initiative has played a crucial role in exposing Indian consumers to global trends in smart home and home automation technology. With a large number of standalone homes across the country, installing smart systems has become a necessity for homeowners to efficiently monitor and control their living spaces.

TFT: What are the key themes, topics of the conference and who are the notable speakers participating?

SS: The three-day concurrent conference will delve into key topics such as smart home solutions, home automation systems, intelligent lighting, advanced audio-video integration, and smart building technologies. It will bring together over 50 international speakers and industry experts, including key speakers from leading companies like Amazon, LG, Snap One, ABB, and more. These experts will share insights on emerging trends, innovative solutions, and best practices through panel discussions and technical training sessions. Additionally, top organizations will conduct specialized training programs, providing attendees with hands-on experience in the latest automation and smart technology advancements.

SS: Over the next 5–10 years, the smart home market will be driven by AI-powered automation, enhancing personalization and efficiency. The adoption of the Matter standard will improve device interoperability, while edge computing will boost privacy and responsiveness. Energy management will see AI-driven optimization, integrating smart grids and solar solutions. Security advancements will include AI-powered surveillance and biometric authentication. Smart lighting will adapt to mood and activity, while AR/VR-integrated audio-video systems will elevate home entertainment. Robotics and AI assistants will handle chores and caregiving, and smart kitchens will feature automated cooking and grocery management. Health-focused innovations, such as air quality monitoring and wearable integrations, will further enhance smart living.
