Special Exhibition of Khadi’ at Rohini, Delhi which will continue till 31st March

The Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC), under the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, Government of India, organized a special exhibition and toolkit distribution program at the Khadi and Village Industries Bhawan, Sector-3, Rohini, Delhi, on Saturday.

KVIC Chairman Shri Manoj Kumar presided over the event as the Chief Guest, alongside several dignitaries and officials, including KVIC North Zone Member Shri Nagendra Raghuvanshi and East Zone Member Shri Manoj Kumar Singh.

Key Highlights of the Event

The event focused on three major initiatives:

  1. Special Khadi Exhibition:
  • 11 Khadi entrepreneurs and 30 PMEGP entrepreneurs showcased their products at 45 stalls from various states, including Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, Punjab, Rajasthan, Haryana, and Delhi.
  1. Toolkit Distribution under Gramodyog Vikas Yojana:
  • 40 potters received electric potters’ wheels.
  • 20 electricians, 20 plumbers, and 20 mobile repair technicians were provided with professional toolkits.
  • 10 leather artisans received leather machines, while 10 spice makers received masala-making toolkits.
  1. Training Certificate Distribution:
  • 115 beneficiaries trained by the Multi-Disciplinary Training Centre (MDTC), Delhi, were awarded certificates.

 

Chairman’s Address & Key Announcements:

During his address, KVIC Chairman Shri Manoj Kumar emphasized that Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision has transformed Khadi into a global identity, calling it “Khadi for Nation, Khadi for Fashion, Khadi for Transformation.” He highlighted a 275% increase in artisans’ wages under the Modi government and announced a further 20% wage hike for Khadi artisans from April 1, 2025. This will raise the earnings of spinners to ₹15 per hank on the charkha.

Historic Achievements in the Khadi & Village Industries Sector:

  • ₹12.02 crore worth of Khadi products were sold during the Prayagraj Mahakumbh.
  • In the last financial year, the total production of Khadi and Village Industries reached ₹1,08,297 crore, with total sales hitting ₹1,55,673 crore.
  • 87 crore jobs have been created in the last 10 years, including 10.17 lakh new jobs last year.
  • 10 lakh+ new projects were established, generating employment for 88 lakh+ people under the Prime Minister’s Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP).

The event saw participation from Khadi institutions, Gramodyog Vikas Yojana beneficiaries, Khadi workers, officials from the Delhi Government, and KVIC employees.
