Bharat Tex 2025 – A Global Textile Powerhouse

Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed Bharat Tex 2025, the second edition of India’s premier global textile event, held at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi. Emphasizing India’s rising dominance in the global textile industry, he highlighted how the event serves as a crucial platform for policymakers, CEOs, and industry leaders worldwide to celebrate India’s textile heritage and foster international collaborations.

India’s Textile Growth and Global Standing

With over 120 countries participating, Bharat Tex 2025 offers Indian exhibitors unparalleled global exposure. PM Modi noted that the event is driving investments, exports, and overall industry growth, positioning India as a key textile hub.

He revealed that India’s textile and apparel exports grew by 7% last year, securing the country’s position as the world’s sixth-largest textile exporter. Looking ahead, he set an ambitious target to triple exports from ₹3 lakh crore to ₹9 lakh crore by 2030. Additionally, foreign investment in India’s textile sector has doubled in the past decade, now contributing 11% to the country’s manufacturing sector.

Strengthening MSMEs and the Skilled Workforce

Recognizing that MSMEs account for 80% of the textile sector, PM Modi underscored government initiatives such as Mission Manufacturing and expanded credit availability to empower small businesses. He also highlighted the importance of a skilled workforce, with initiatives like the Samarth scheme and National Centres of Excellence playing a pivotal role in talent development.
