East Tech 2024 Concludes Successfully in Kolkata

The Eastern Command of the Indian Army’s East Tech 2024 symposium has successfully concluded at Biswa Bangla Mela Prangan in Kolkata. This two-day event, held on November 5-6, 2024, showcased cutting-edge defence technologies and innovations, emphasizing India’s growing prowess in indigenous defence solutions.

The collaboration between the defence forces, CII, SIDM, and industry partners is paving the way for a future that is tech-driven, self-reliant, and secure. The principles of Atmanirbhar Bharat and Raksha Atmanirbharta are central to this transformation.

  • Participation: Over 140 exhibitors from the defence industry demonstrated their capabilities across various manufacturing domains.

  • Energy harvesting shoe soles for powering electronic devices in remote locations.
  • Exoskeleton suits to improve soldiers’ efficiency during long marches.
  • Advanced drones capable of carrying payloads between 5kg to 50kg over high altitudes.
  • Integrated terrestrial and non-terrestrial private 5G networks for remote location connectivity.

Leadership Insights Lieutenant General C Srikanth, Chief of Staff, Headquarters Eastern Command, praised the event’s success: “The contributions from all stakeholders have not only made this event a resounding success but have also underscored India’s growing prowess in defence and indigenous technologies.”

Eastern Army Commander Lt. General C Tiwari emphasized the need for resilient drones capable of operating in high altitude and challenging terrains, stating, “We have identified potential solutions to augment our units and formations with potent, state-of-the-art drones.” East Tech 2024 has set a new benchmark for defence technology exhibitions in India, fostering collaboration between the military, industry, and academia while promoting self reliance in the defence sector. The event’s success has paved the way for future innovations and partnerships in India’s defence technology landscape.
