The highly anticipated Ambiente 2025 commenced in Frankfurt, Germany, with the India Pavilion officially inaugurated on February 7, 2025. The ceremony was led by Mr. B. S. Mubarak, Consul General, Consulate General of India, Frankfurt, in the presence of Mr. Dileep Baid, Chairman of EPCH; Prince Malik, Rajesh K. Jain, Arshad Mir, and Kamal Soni, CoA Members of EPCH; Mr. Nipun Pande, Additional Development Commissioner (Handloom); Mr. Thomas Kastl, Director of Ambiente; and Mr. Winston Pereira, Executive Director of Messe Frankfurt India Trade Fair, alongside member exporters and visitors. The inauguration was announced by Mr. R.K. Verma, Executive Director of EPCH.
Following the inauguration, Mr. B. S. Mubarak, accompanied by other officials, toured the EPCH Pavilion and interacted with exhibitors. He expressed appreciation for the wide range of Indian handicrafts displayed at Ambiente 2025, highlighting India’s rich heritage in craftsmanship.
Ambiente 2025: A Platform for Indian Handicrafts
Speaking at the event, Mr. Dileep Baid, Chairman of EPCH, emphasized the significance of Ambiente as one of Germany’s premier international fairs, attracting a vast number of global buyers seeking high-quality products. He noted that India’s strong participation enhances the country’s export potential and strengthens its presence in overseas markets.

Mr. Baid also acknowledged the commendable support of the Indian Mission in Germany, which has significantly facilitated EPCH’s participation at Ambiente over the years.
EPCH’s Contribution to Global Handicraft Trade
Mr. R.K. Verma, Executive Director of EPCH, highlighted that Ambiente 2025 is a globally renowned Consumer Goods Fair, featuring approximately 3,000 exhibitors from around the world. India’s participation adds vibrancy and diversity to the exhibition, providing global manufacturers, retailers, and brands with an opportunity to explore India’s thriving Home Decor, Gifts, and Consumer Products industry. He further noted that EPCH’s 59 participating exporters have attracted visitors from various countries, boosting trade prospects.
The Export Promotion Council for Handicrafts (EPCH) serves as a nodal organization dedicated to promoting Indian handicraft exports and enhancing India’s brand image on the global stage. Representing millions of artisans and craftsmen working in home decor, lifestyle products, textiles, furniture, and fashion accessories, EPCH plays a crucial role in showcasing India’s artistic legacy.
During 2023-24, India’s total handicraft exports amounted to ₹32,759 crores (USD 3,956 million), with exports to Germany alone reaching ₹1,530.14 crores (USD 184.88 million), according to Mr. R.K. Verma.
India’s continued presence at Ambiente underlines its commitment to expanding its global footprint in the handicrafts sector, strengthening trade relationships, and showcasing the magic of its skilled
artisans to the world.
