IIJS SIGNATURE 2025 UNLOCKS NEW GLOBAL OPPORTUNITIES

The 17th edition of IIJS Signature 2025 officially opened on January 4, 2024, at JWCC, Mumbai, marking the beginning of an exciting chapter for the Indian gem and jewellery industry. The event set an inspiring tone as industry leaders, dignitaries, and stakeholders gathered to celebrate India’s finest craftsmanship and innovation.

Opening Ceremony Highlights

The ceremony was graced by Chief Guest Shri Mangal Prabhat Lodha, Hon’ble Minister of Skill, employment, entrepreneurship, and Innovation, Government of Maharashtra. Shri Lodha praised the Indian gem and jewellery industry for its significant contribution to the economy. He also emphasized the importance of collaboration between the government and the industry. “Maharashtra offers the best business and professional atmosphere. Under the visionary leadership of Hon’ble Chief Minister Shri Devendra Fadnavis Ji, our government is committed to supporting industries like yours. Together, we can realise the dreams of Viksit and atmanirbhar Bharat. GJEPC and the Maharashtra Govt. must collaborate on skill development and certifications to strengthen the future workforce and elevate the diamond and jewellery sector to greater heights,” he stated.

The event was also attended by Guests of Honour Shri Saurabh Gadgil, Chairman & Managing Director of PNG Jewellers, and Shri Umesh Pandey, Thai Trade representative. Shri Gadgil shared his thoughts on IIJS’ importance, saying, “From being the epitome of networking to showcasing talent from across the globe, IIJS represents our journey towards becoming the world’s largest jewellery show. With support from the government and a move towards greater organisation, we’re poised to hit $100 billion domestic market size by next year.”

International Representation

Shri Umesh Pandey, in his speech, highlighted India’s significant role in the global jewellery market, noting the strong relationship between India and Thailand in the gemstone and jewellery sector. “Thailand and India share deep roots in the gemstone and jewellery industry. I’m honoured to represent my nation, extending an open invitation for Indian businesses to invest and f lourish in Thailand.” he said.

Commitment to Industry Growth

Shri Vipul Shah, Chairman of GJEPC, spoke about the Council’s initiatives to drive growth and innovation in the sector. “By integrating skill development with cutting- edge technology, we are not only transforming the Indian gem and jewellery industry but also fostering innovation, sustainability, and trust. Our commitment to nurturing talent, advancing infrastructure, and promoting transparency ensures that India remains a global leader in this dynamic sector.” he remarked. Additionally, Shri Shah shared exciting news that GJEPC will host its first exhibition in Saudi Arabia in Jeddah from September 11 to 13, 2025, strengthening bilateral trade between India and the GCC region.

Significance of IIJS Signature

Kirit Bhansali, Vice Chairman of GJEPC, emphasized the importance of IIJS Signature as the first show of the calendar year, saying, “IIJS sets the tone, reflects market sentiment, and provides valuable insights into what we can expect in the months ahead.” Nirav Bhansali, Convener of National exhibitions at GJEPC, added, “IIJS is more than just an event— it’s a platform for creativity, sustainability, and unity. As the world’s second-largest gem and jewellery show, IIJS continues to elevate our industry globally, paving the way for an even brighter future.”

Show Highlights

To celebrate India’s rich heritage, GJEPC incorporated the ancient Brahmi script into the overarching theme of “brilliant Bharat” under the Literature sub-theme. Participants were encouraged to create jewellery based on the Brahmi theme, adding a unique cultural element to the exhibition that highlights the timeless beauty of Indian craftsmanship. The show at JWCC featured a wide array of products, including diamond, gemstone, and studded jewellery, stylish gold and gold CZ designs, and dedicated sections for laboratories and education on loose gemstones. a special section for lab grown diamonds, along with a dedicated area for loose natural diamonds, was also part of the display.

BEC showcased an equally comprehensive collection of diamond, gemstone, and studded jewellery, gold and gold CZ designs, and sections for silver jewellery, artifacts, and gifting items. Additionally, BEC featured a dedicated section for loose coloured gemstones. The concurrent IGJME show catered to the technical needs of the industry, presenting the latest machinery, technology, and allied products.
