KUMARASWAMY INAUGURATES IMTEX 2025 IN BENGALURU, BOOSTING INDIA’S MANUFACTURING GROWTH

Union Minister for Heavy Industries and Steel, H.D. Kumaraswamy, inaugurated IMTEX  2025 at the Bangalore International exhibition Centre, emphasizing the crucial role of the machine tool industry in India’s manufacturing and economic development. “a strong machine tool industry is essential for a robust manufacturing sector,” said Kumaraswamy, emphasising its role as a cornerstone of the capital goods sector. Organized by the Indian Machine Tool Manufacturers’ association (IMTMA), the 22nd edition of IMTEX  2025 is a leading global event focusing on metal cutting and manufacturing technologies. The exhibition, held from January 23 to 29, 2025, brings together over 1,100 exhibitors from 23 countries at the Bangalore International exhibition Centre (BIEC) in Bengaluru.

In his address, Kumaraswamy praised Karnataka’s pivotal role in the sector, noting that the state produces 50 percent of India’s machine tools, earning it the title of the “machine tool capital of the country.” He also acknowledged the efforts of Hindustan Machine Tools (HMT) in laying the foundation for the industry’s growth over the past five decades, which continues to drive innovation and excellence in Karnataka.

“Our ministry has supported the establishment of the Tumakuru Machine Tool Park and partnered with industry and academia to set up Centres of excellence like the advanced Manufacturing Technology Development Centre at IIT Madras,” Kumaraswamy added. Announcing the upcoming National Capital Goods Policy 2025, the Minister emphasized that the policy aims to transform India into a global leader in the sector by fostering innovation, reducing reliance on imports, and boosting competitiveness.

IMTEX  2025, with its focus on innovation and collaboration, aligns with the government’s “Make in India” initiative and aims to strengthen the country’s self-reliance and global competitiveness in manufacturing. Karnataka Industries Minister M.B. Patil also attended the inauguration, further reinforcing the state’s commitment to supporting and nurturing the machine tool industry.
